Description
Apollo sits on rocks in the centre playing the lyre. Marsyas stands on left holding a pipe. Between them stands a draped female; two heads appear in the background. By Marsyas on left sit Athena with her aegis, helmet and spear, and Cybele, who rests her elbow on a monstrous head (lion?). At bottom left reclines a bearded river god leaning on a prow (?) in the water, right. A tree grows behind him on right. At upper level reclines another river god, who holds a cornucopia. On right of Apollo there is a female in the background and then a group of three kneeling males, bearded and draped, two at the feet of Apollo, the one on right facing the viewer. Then there are three draped females standing and a bearded male, with his foot raised on a rock. On far left a half-draped bearded male reclines with a dog by his side, looking up to Apollo. Behind him stands a half-draped nymph, an urn on a pedestal by her side.
