Relief: woman plays lyre, flanked by putti with cornucopiae
assigned by cataloguer
Sampson catalogue states that Fa 3 (was Fa 2) describes: 'piccola statua di donna in mezzo rilievo'
Fa 3 Palazzo no. 69
Description
In the centre a draped female, with one breast bare, sits to right on a throne playing a lyre. Seated sphinxes form the legs of the throne. On left and right are smaller square relief panels, each showing a nude putto with drapery floating round him, carrying a cornucopia of fruit over his shoulder in a way that defies gravity. Each putto moves outwards, but looks back over his shoulder to the female.
