Description

Content (description)

This relief is made up from fragments with new sections added. On left by a pillar a bearded man in a late style toga stands in front of a curtain. A bearded man stands on left at his shoulder, and a child in the foreground left gestures to him. On right by a high rock stands a male with a skin slung across his chest and a draped female set high up in the background. On right is the confusion of an Amazonomachy. In the confusion a bearded soldier in armour drags an Amazon from her horse by the hair as she gallops to right. On right a young soldier prepares to attack a figure that falls to its knees on right. On far right a female walks right looking back over her shoulder; a figure lies dead at her feet. Architecture has been added in the background. On left is a pedimented temple with tall pointed acroteria, and next to it a domed building with columned facade and steps leading to a tall arched doorway. On right is a fortress within an enclosed wall.
