Description

Content (description)

On each side at the top hangs a garland of fruit and leaves from fleshless boukrania at the top corners, looped up in the centre by a twisted cord. Fillets hang from the horns of the boukrania. Beneath each garland is the figure of a maenad.
88: front. The maenad moves to right on a rocky line, her head thrown back and her hair flying. One breast is bare and she has a drape looped over her outspread arms. Before her she holds the severed head of a youth, behind her she holds a short sword. Over the two swags of the garland is an inscription arranged as follows:

89: a maenad dances to right on a rocky line, her arms outspread and holding a drape behind her. She turns her head back to left. She wears a diadem.
90: a maenad moves right on a rocky line with her head bent back and her hair flying. A drape hangs behind her from her outspread arms. She carries a thyrsus over her left shoulder and holds a tympanum or crotola in her right hand behind her.
