Description
Three views of the same handle. The handle rises from a mask with long hair and a tongue projecting from a gaping mouth. At the base of the handle is a horizontal band of bead and reel moulding, flanked by two recumbant rams, facing away from the handle. At the top of the handle facing into the vase is a lion head, with its tongue hanging out of its open mouth; its mane continues back along the handle for some way. By the head are the rivets for attachment and also thumbrests decorated with rosettes.
