Description
Content (description)
In centre Dionysus reclines in a chariot and is drawn to right by two panthers, with a putto seated on the back of one. The way is led by a maenad, a silenus with a pedum and a satyr. Two armed figures proceed in the background behind the chariot and they are followed by two maenads beating on tympana. An elephant follows Dionysus; on its back sit two putti with hands behind their backs (i.e. captives). Pan squats beneath the elephant and a maenad brings up the rear.
