Content (description)
In centre sits the intellectual, draped and holding an open roll, with a bundle of rolls by his left foot. Two females in the attitudes of muses, though actually with portrait heads, flank his seat. Three draped males are also present, two flanking the group, each holding a roll, and one in the background at left of the intellectual. Curtains hang across the background.
