assigned by cataloguer
Description
In background four spirally fluted columns support an elaborate entablature and form three niches, the central one of which is topped by a pediment. In the central niche stands a bearded and draped male, holding a roll. The two draped females flank him and gesture towards him. They stand on objects which are apparently the prows of boats. The figures have been identified as Homer between the Iliad and Odyssey.
