Content (description)

In centre a youth falls struck by an arrow, but holds on to the bridle of his rearing horse, behind which a girl with billowing drapery runs to left.
Upper right another youth falls from his horse, wounded in the stomach. In the foreground a nurse holds a falling girl. Further right in the foreground is a youth on a fallen horse, and in the background two figures with arrows in their backs, one falling forward on his horse. On far right stands Niobe with billowing drapery and two small children around her skirts. Left of centre two bearded men support a son and daughter, while a girl falls upper left, another lies dead bottom right. At far left a pedagogue tries to protect a boy.
