Description

Content (description)

From left, Pan sits to left on a rock mound at the foot of a tree. Nude Silenus dances by a round altar at the foot of a pine tree; there is a ram's head on the altar. A maenad with billowing drapery dances to right, holding a thyrsus and a bunch of grapes. A panther prances by her side. Then, stretching a skin behind him, a satyr dances by a rectangular base on which lies a satyr mask. Between his feet is an oscillum decorated with a Pan's head. On far right a putto at the foot of a tree gestures in surprise as a snake crawls out of a basket.
