Description
Content (description)
In centre of table support stands elaborate krater. Two satyrs lean towards it to sip from its brim, meanwhile each stretches up a hand to press a large bunch of grapes, which hangs directly from above two intertwining vine tendrils. Four thyrsi in background cross behind their upraised hands. At each side sits a great sphinx with outspread wings, facing outwards, its head and shoulders almost in the round. Over the wings, hang bells, tympana and fillets.
