Description
In centre stands Luna's chariot in front of a tree. In it is a putto, a second, holding an arrow, stands on the back of one of the horses. A winged female, wearing a short tunic, stands in front of the horses, holding a flaming torch. Luna dismounts towards the left, led by three putti to Endymion who lies asleep in the lap of a winged old man, Somnus, on rocks at the foot of a tree. His dog sits bottom left and looks up at Luna's approach. Two small figures, a genius and a nymph, sit in the background above Endymion. Far right a rustic sits asleep on rocks at the foot of a tree. At each end of the relief stands a putto with down-turned torch, the one on left winged.
