From left : By pillar sits man with open volume on knee, a pile of volumes on ground. A youth points to his volume. A woman (in fact man), seated, turns and rests hand on shoulder of youth, wearing toga. A soldier, partly hidden by his shield, raises his arm and looks to left. A second soldier turns to right. Then come two women (in fact boys) playing lyre and flute. Mars stands facing viewer, fully armed, by altar behind which stand two small figures. One of them pours contents of jug into patera held by man on right of altar, dressed in toga and wearing garland. A boy attends him on right. A victimarius leads a bull to the altar, followed by another carrying two palm branches. Two others lead up a ram and a pig while a woman (in fact man) carries a vexillum in background. Then two soldiers stand partly hidden by their shields, while a third, his back turned to the viewer, tends a horse. On far right is a pillar.
