Description
Same as 106 with slight variations of detail: A wine vat sarcophagus with lion masks in the top left and right corners. Beneath the mask on right lies Ariadne, holding a putto in one arm, while an infant Pan and putto look on. The putto stretches an arm towards Dionysus, who stands with legs crossed leaning on Pan in a decorated carriage. He has vines among his hair, an ivy garland across his torso, and he stretches out a handful of grapes in front of a maenad, who plays the crotola in the background on right. A prancing bearded centaur draws the carriage, holding a whisk(?) over his head and a krater in his left hand. Beneath him are a putto with a garland of grapes, a tiger and a horse(?); in the background is a satyr holding grapes and a pedum. Facing this centaur stands a young centaur with a skin over his shoulder, holding a roll-like object at which gapes Pan, who stands in the centre background holding a wine skin on his shoulders. By the feet of the young centaur are two tigers, which move right but look at the viewer and smile broadly. A satyr, holding a pedum, moves right in the background. On left stands nude Dionysus, with garlands across his body and in his hair and holding a thyrsus; he points right but looks left, his foot resting on a recumbant tiger. Pan, open-mouthed, supports him. Beneath the lion mask on left a bearded male kneels on the ground, his hand resting on an overturned jar. A putto stands by him with a goat and a dog.
