Description
25 and 26: front. From left male and female centaurs, the former carrying a lyre and with a putto on his back holding the reins, draw a carriage to right, in it stands drunken Dionysus, half-draped, supported by a satyr. In the centre two maenads play pipes and tympanum and dance with Pan round a cista from which a snake emerges. On right two satyrs gesticulate over Silenus, who lies drunk on a carriage driven by Pan. The mules have collapsed under the strain; a satyr far right tries to drag one to its feet by its ears. In the background a satyr carries a bull upside-down on one shoulder.
27: short side. A maenad dances to left and plays the tympanum, her drapery billowing and exposing her body. A satyr dances on right, a skin draped behind his body. On left is a pine tree.
28: short side. A half-draped female reclines on high rocks on right. A winged putto holding a garland flies towards her, leading a satyr from left. A curtain hangs in the background.
