Description

Content (description)

85: This drawing shows the whole of one side, with its elaborate ornament above and below the relief panel. Above, floral scrolls run to a central palmette from behind a winged female at each corner. Below, at each corner a winged Silenus, truncated at the knee, leans back on a rosette, from behind which springs a floral scroll; in the centre a 'vase' of palmette and floral ornaments is held by a figure kneeling behind. In the panel a draped female on left fixes a fillet to a tripod on a slender pedestal in the centre. On the right a draped, bearded male stands watching, holding a flaming(?) staff.
86: detail of a second panel. A bearded draped male with a tall sceptre on left and a draped female on right both hold fillets up to a central object which stands on a slender pillar.
87: detail of the panel in Bm 7. 85.
