Description
36: the participants journey to the hunt. On left stands draped old man, who looks right at Atalanta and gestures left. After Atalanta is a bearded man, who leads a hound on a leash and holds an axe in his left hand. A second hound precedes him. Behind these figures are three youths, two of whom carry hunting nets. Then the Dioscuri move right, the one in the foreground gesturing to a man on right.
37: the hunt itself. The boar emerges from behind a tree trunk on left. Two men stand far right looking left, while a huntsman sinks to the ground wounded by the tree. Two hounds rush against the boar from left, as Meleager bends to the attack. Atalanta stands by him on right and further right a huntsman prepares to strike the boar with his dagger/spear. There is another huntsman in the background on left behind Meleager.
