Description
On right is the portrait of a youth, from the waist up; he wears a leafy garland, holds a roll in his left hand and gestures with his right. In the background right is a funerary stele, divided into two panels, the lower one of which is empty, the upper one containing busts of four men in relief. The left part of the relief is occupied by figures much smaller in scale. In the centre two draped youths, with a vase at their feet, move right to where a male, perhaps Apollo, stands playing the lyre. One of the youths holds an open roll and makes a gesture, looking left. There a bearded male with long ringlets and fully draped holds a club and originally gestured with his right hand. On far left stands a draped female or youth holding a staff, by a boy who holds on a rectangular block a shield-like object with crenellations around the edge. A bearded male stands to right in the background.
