In the Sampson catalogue is written: 'Tampered? cut badly- no inscr. now?' BUT the inscriptions 'Kent' and 'nella Villa Medice' ARE written on the back of the drawing but obscured by the new backing paper to which the drawing is stuck.
Description
The breastplate is decorated with a male figure rising from leaves; against him rear two winged monsters. At the neck is a Medusa head. On l. is a subsidiary sketch, which perhaps shows the side of the cuirass.
