Description

Content (description)

On left Dionysus and a satyr stand beneath a curtain, which is held by a vase on a pillar; there is a panther at Dionysus' feet. Three satyrs busy themselves with a cauldron on a fire; a boar hangs half out of the cauldron. A fourth satyr skins a second boar, which hangs from the branch of a tree, which grows in centre and spreads its leafy branches to left and right. At its foot stands an altar and a herm, which a satyr decks with a garland. On right two satyrs play pipes, while a third prepares to empty a wineskin into a krater on the ground. A curtain, or perhaps a skin, hangs from the tree in the middle to a vase on a column far right. The rest of the scene is shown in Bn. 10. 51
