The volume Bn 11, entitled Vase antiche, is devoted entirely to vases, some antique, but mostly fanciful products after the antique. A large number of the engravings have the initials AE. V and the representation of fanciful vases fall into three groups, distinguished by the inscriptions (a) sic Romae antiqui sculptores ex aere et marmore faciebant,
(b) ex Romanis antiquitatibus,
(c) Romae ab antiquo repertum

Description
Content (description)
The wide low base is decorated with a frieze of pelta shields, each with a floral head in the centre. Above this, on a narrower base decorated with relief panels and cockle shells, stands a vase, on the foot of which lie dolphins, nose down. On the vase are enormous grotesque animal heads, from which hang garlands. Three nude males stand on this vase in twisted postures and support a wide deep bowl, which is in the form of a fanciful floral face.
