Description
The jug stands on a low foot, round the middle of the body is a convex band, on which is represented a marine thiasos. Beneath this band very tall herms hold swags of drapery between them. Above the band are masks, that in the centre horned and floral, the others winged and male. From one of these rises the handle - two scaly snakes side by side; they form a coil where they join the lip and their gaping mouths point into the jug. The lip is in the form of a shell, supported on a mask with flowing hair on the upperpart of the neck; on the lower part is leaf decoration.
