The volume Bn 11, entitled Vase antiche, is devoted entirely to vases, some antique, but mostly fanciful products after the antique. A large number of the engravings have the initials AE. V and the representation of fanciful vases fall into three groups, distinguished by the inscriptions (a) sic Romae antiqui sculptores ex aere et marmore faciebant,
(b) ex Romanis antiquitatibus,
(c) Romae ab antiquo repertum

Description
The slender ovoid body stands on a high slim foot, which is decorated with leaves and has a wide flat base. The body is divided into three zones. At the bottom there is spiral fluting and at the top there are three mouldings, two broad, one narrow. Between these two zones is a frieze in which stand three caryatid herms with drapes hanging from the upper border between them; two figures kneel in supplication, one at each side of the central herm. The neck and lip of the jug are in the form of a grotesque animal head, with its neck twisted into spirals, its mouth gaping and its tongue sticking out. The handle rises from a mask at the shoulder; it starts as a clawed foot and then curves back in a faintly acrobatic manner.
