V and the representation of fanciful vases fall into three groups, distinguished by the inscriptions (a) sic Romae antiqui sculptores ex aere et marmore faciebant,
(b) ex Romanis antiquitatibus,
(c) Romae ab antiquo repertum
(b) ex Romanis antiquitatibus,

Description
The amphora, which has a rather globular body, stands on a high slender foot with a wide flat base. There are acanthus leaves around the bottom of the body, on the shoulder and on the high slim neck. At the top of the body lie two winged females, whose bodies end in coiled tails. A garland hangs between the two tails. Their wings are spread back so that the tips touch, and beneath the tips is a boukranion. The head of each female is extended in a snaky tendril to curve up and over towards the lip to form the handles. The females have foliage intstead of hair. The fluted lid has a ring as knob.
