Description
The tall amphora stands on a low wide foot. Its body is divided into three zones, the bottom one filled with convex flutings, the top one decorated with marble-like markings. In the middle zone two lions stand in a scroll of leafy branches and flank a ring, which is surmounted by a pyramidal 'stone' (see Bn. 11 no.29) the handles rise from satyr masks set on the top zone; they begin as animal feet and their upper parts are masked with acanthus leaves. The nobbed lid has leafy decoration.
