Description
The vase, which has a globular body, stands on a low foot decorated with leaves. Round the bottom of the body are convex flutings, above which is a frieze, bordered by bands of cable pattern, showing nude putti holding garlands. The neck is low, the knobbed lid is decorated with leaves. The handles are formed by two pairs of snakes, which twine all round the shoulder, knotting themselves at the sides, and crawl on to the lip.
