Large krater with figured relief

The volume Bn 11, entitled Vase antiche, is devoted entirely to vases, some antique, but mostly fanciful products after the antique. A large number of the engravings have the initials AE. V and the representation of fanciful vases fall into three groups, distinguished by the inscriptions (a) sic Romae antiqui sculptores ex aere et marmore faciebant,

Description
The krater stands on a high flared fluted foot. The belly is decorated with acanthus leaves, and at the top of the belly are set two low fluted handles, each on a pair of masks. A vine tendril runs round the vase just below the flaring lip, which is fluted and bearded. The concave neck is decorated with figures in relief.
