(b) ex Romanis antiquitatibus,
(c) Romae ab antiquo repertum

Description

Content (description)

The large krater stands in the foreground of a landscape littered with classical ruins. It has a high foot, which is decorated with spiral fluting between the mouldings ornamented with vine tendrils. Flutings cover the belly of the vase, while on the neck are reliefs of Dionysus accompanied by satyrs and maenads. A vine tendril runs above the figures.
