Content (description)

The frieze of scenes from the Tiber are set around the base on which the statue of the Tiber reclines with a cornucopia in his right hand and a broken stick in his left hand. The scenes form a decorative frame.
At the top right is a very long inscription explaining the significance of the statue and ending: ....EX ANTIQUO MARMOREO SIMULACHRO QUOD IN VATICANO ADHUC EXTAT DI LIGENTER DEFORMATUM ET/ IN HAC TABELLA ATN. LA/FRERI. AENEIS FORMIS/ AD AMUSSIM/EXCUSUM
