Description
The Farnese Hercules stands in a niche. He leans on his club on a rock mound, his right hand is behind his back. On the mound is a greek inscription.
Beneath the plinth is the following inscription:
Omnium elegantissimum Herculis signum Gliconis Atheniensis peritissimi artificis manu fabre factu. Quod Paulo iij Pont. Max.o in / thermarum Antonianary ruderibus inventum et in domus Farnesianae (?) ad campum Florae interiori porticu locatum Ant. Lafrerius/ Sequanus aeneis formis diligenter expressit anno MDLXII
Beneath the plinth is the following inscription:
