Content (description)

The obelisk is surmounted by a globe and has an inscription on its shaft: DIVO CAESARI DIVI IULII F AUGUSTO/ TI CAESARI DIVI AUGUSTO F AUGUSTO/SACRUM. The measurements of the obelisk are indicated and the method of jointing is shown.
In the panel bottom right with voluted border is the inscription:
OBELISCI VATICANI QUEM CUM ALII TUM NOS IPSI/NON ITA EXACTE ALIAS REPRAESENTAVIMUS/VERISSIMA EFFIGIES IUSTISSIMAQ PROPORTIONIS DIMENSIO/ Ant. Lafreri formis Romae M D L
