The volume Bn 12 is described in Fa 4 as : 'Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae in loose sheets being points of ye most famous remains of buildings, amphitheatres, temples, columns, triumphal arches, mausoleums and statues in Rome - engraved by Lafrerius, Barlachus, Aen. Vicus and others'
Description
The column rises from a cluster of acanthus leaves on a round base, which is decorated with mouldings. The column is divided into three main zones, the lowest of which is decorated with spiral fluting. The upper two zones are covered with vine tendrils, which rise out of acanthus leaves. The capital is formed of floral scrolls, which also rise from acanthus leaves.
