Content (description)

The Baths are shown as reconstructed by Pirro Ligorio. Explanatory note are added where necessary. On right outside the circuit of the walls is a wedge-shaped building with two rows of squares along its flat roof and the following note at the top:
Botte di Therme o vogliamo dir conserva over piscina limaria per uso delle There ove si purgava l'acqua e facevasi fresca et utile al bevere la qual si traheva dall'aquedotto dell'aqua Augusta che veniva nel colle Quirinale e nel Viminale.
Top left is the inscription: THERMAE DEOCLITIANAE/ ET MAXIMIANAE/INTER QUIRINALEM ET VIMINALEM.
Lower right is the inscription: PYRRUS LIGORIUS EX VETERUM/MONUMENT. RELIQUII/ ROMAE MDLVIII/ MICHAELIS TRAMEZINI FORMIS ESCUS./ Cum Privilegiis sum (?) Pont et Senat Veneti. Iac, Bossius Belga in aes incid/
