Description
The arch with its three passage ways survives only to the cornice. In front of each pier two fluted Corinthian columns stand on projecting pedestals and flank a pedimented niche, in which are figures. From the pediment of the niche winged Victories fly up holding a roundel containing a bust. Over the roundel are crossed vexilla and putti flanking the drape. A rough line across the arch indicates the level of the earth.
Above the arch is the inscription: Frontispice d'un ancien monument de la Ville de Reims
Beneath the arch is a long explanatory inscription of the history of the arch and its discovery and excavation, in French, see actual engraving.
Inscribed in the lower left corner: Io Colin fecit Remis
