Content (description)

The relief is divided into four vertical panels with a horizontal panel at top and bottom. In the vertical panel on left is a recumbant lion; in each of the other three a male makes an offering before an animal-headed god. The upper half of each panel is filled with hieroglyphics, so is also the horizontal panel at the top.
Beneath the relief is the following inscription: Tabulam hanc ex marmore aegyptiaco aegyptiacis insculptam hieroglyphicis latam palmis/ quatuor circiter, totidemque longam ex ruinis montis Aventini anno 1709 effossam, Illu/strissimo et nobili Viro D. Carolo Francisco de Person Praefecto vigilantissimo/ Regie Accademiae in Urbe bonarum artium matre a Lodovico magno erecte, Fran/ciscus de ficoronis dedicat, vovet ac consecrat.
