Along the upper edge is the inscription: Penates, apud Devisas, in BELGIO nostro effossi, Anno 1714.
In the lower right corner is the inscription: Nobilissimo Principi/ FREDERICO/GEORGII ffilio celsissimi/GEORGII Hep. Augustissimi/ CAESARI destinato/ M. BRITANNIAE spei, deliciis, / Animaeque desideratissimae/ PENATES hosce, annes sesquimille terra/ absconditos, voti et obsequii sui Pignus/ sacrari voluit/ Guil. Mulgrave, G. F./ISCANUS.
Along the centre of the bottom edge is the inscription: PENATES hi Guil. cadby apud Devisas Olitoris/ are incisi et charta imperiali impressi, vene/unt a Bibliopolis Knaptor Londinensi, Clements Oxoniensi et Yeo Exoniensi. MDCCXVII. M. Burghers sculp.
