Description

Content (description)

The amphitheatre is shown from a high viewpoint so as to illustrate both the exterior and the interior. Many figures are included, with spectators in the amphitheatre, carriages driving round and jousting (?) taking place. At bottom left a draped female sits holding a billowing flag, on which are a cross and a winged lion. Two putti at her feet hold a coat of arms. At bottom right reclines a river god with urn and rudder; by his side is a putto and fruits on the ground.
On a fillet held at each end by putti, five on left, four on right is the inscription: AMFITEATRO DETTO LARENA DI VERONA.
Along the lower edge of Bn 13. 50 are explanatory notes on the amphitheatre
