Description
Content (description)
Athamus, with a cloak round his neck, steps forward with his right foot. He holds the body of Learchos over his left shoulder by the leg, so that it hangs down. He has a scabbard slung across his chest, hanging at his left side, and carries a sword in his right hand. A round decorated shield leans against a tree trunk behind him. The statue stands in a niche and is viewed obliquely from right.
