Content (description)

The amphitheater has two sets of walls arranged in catenary curves from two monumental entrance towers, one at each end of the building. The walls are pierced with arches. The amphitheatre is set in a landscape and figures are dotted about, both inside and out.
Inscribed above the amphitheatre: LAMPHITHEATRE DIT LE PALAIS DE GAILLIAN PRES LA VILLE DE BORDEAUX.
Inscribed lower right: Par C. Chastillion. Written in ink beneath, on backing sheet PPPP.
