Description

Content (description)

The bearded warrior stands with his right arm raised, once resting on a spear. He wears elaborate cuirass, lionskin boots and an ornate plumed helmet. In his left hand he holds a shield, which rests on the ground. By his right leg is a rock covered with a lionskin. The statue stands in a niche.
Inscribed below the statue: Pyrrhi Molossorum regis Imperatorum sui temporis fortissimi, et rei miliataris peritissimi ducis Simulachrum,/quod Romae in porticu domus Maximi Archiepiscopi Amalphitanorum situm Ant. Salamanca aeneis typis/suis delineavit et publicae studiosorum utilitati Anno MDLXII inlucem misit.
