Description
The oval gem shows the head of Medusa in profile to left. Up the right runs the Greek word EONNNOE (??). The gem is set in a frame of meander pattern, at the bottom of which is pinned a scroll with the words IMPUNE SPECTARE LICET. On left the gem is shown in its actual size with the words GEMMAE MAGNITUDO. The gem stands on a concave tabula ansata, around the edge of which runs a leafy moulding. A frontal Medusa head is set above the gem and from it run thick oak garlands, looped in the upper corners with a representation of Medusa set in the centre of the loop.
