Description
Content (description)
32: front. At each bottom corner an eagle with outspread wings stands on a rocky ledge on the body of an animal. On the back of each eagle stands a draped winged victory, holding the end of a garland of leaves. Beneath the garland a panther attacks a cock. Over the garland is a scene showing the death of Archemorun. On right on rocks a child is held upside down in the coils of a serpent. It rears against a male in the centre, who moves away to left, his cloak billowing. Water spills from an urn between his feet. On left a draped female moves to left. At top centre is a panel with the inscription: DIS MANIBUS/ /////GNATI/ NICEPHORI. Beneath the base mouldings runs another inscription: IN FR P XVIII IN AGR P XVII.
33: right side. At the front corner are the eagle and the victory; at the back corner is a similar eagle beneath a horned and bearded satyr head. A garland of fruit, flowers and leaves is supported by the head and the victory. Beneath the garland, a panther rends a deer. Over it a swan perches with outspread wings on a rock. At top centre is a patera.
34: left side. As right side, but there is a bull on a rock beneath the garland, and a jug in place of the patera.
