Description

Content (description)

The globular urn stands on a low foot, which is decorated with leaves, and has a lid on which crouches a monkey. At the rim of the urn are set two bearded masks, from the side of which hangs a garland of leaves. A square panel at the front cuts across this garland; in it is the inscription D M / MESSIAE/ GRAPHICAE/ PARENTES F. Around the body of the urn at the junction with the foot is a ring of leaves.
