Relief: sacrifice of boar
assigned by cataloguer
Description
Three men, wearing loin cloths, sacrifice a boar on a sacrificial table. One man holds its hind legs, another attends to its head, while the third squats on the ground holding an ornate bowl (to catch the blood?). A flattish plain bowl stands on the ground. The sacrifice is in honour of Hercules, whose statue stands on right on a high pedestal by a tree. The statue has a club and a lion skin in its left hand and holds out a vase in the other.
