Basileios Vatatzis was a Greek traveller and merchant who is believed to be from either Therapeia or Constantinople. He spent some time at the court of Nadir Shah in Persia and travelled extensively in the region to the east of the Caspian Sea, the Aral Sea and present day Afghanistan. This map is the product of his experiences and is the first modern survey of the region. Title in Greek and Latin.
