Scene with Disembarkation of Ulysses(?)

Description
Figures disembark from a ship which appears to the right of a rock. It is flanked by coloured and plain columns which support an upper decorated terrace with a pair of herms supporting another coloured curved shelf. Across the upper third of the picture is an arched pediment with scrolls and peacocks.

In the Thomas Ashby Catalogue of the Topham Portfolio it describes :
'An Ancient Picture found 1724 in the Farnesian Gardens' and:
'It is under the Basilica (cf. Hulsen, Rom. Mitt. x (1895), 259), and has recently been found. It belongs to an earlier house, which may be dated to the end of the Republic.
