These plain globular double-handled cups are known as strangers' cups or ox-eye cups. This traditional form of drinking vessel is most often associated with the colleges of Oxford and Cambridge University.
These examples are engraved with the arms of Eton College, in Charles II heraldic-style surrounds. The two small ring handles are hollow.
