This pair of wine coolers are engraved with the royal arms of Queen Anne.

They were formerly owned by Sir Thomas Hanmer, Speaker of the House of Commons from 1714 to 1715.

One of a pair of wine coolers that were used by Sir Thomas Hanmer, 4th Baronet (1677-1746) when he served as Speaker of the House of Commons of Great Britain from 1714 to 1715.

Physical description

One of a pair of wine coolers. The top has a guilloche border enclosing rosettes with two female cast masks on plain scrolled straps. Round the shoulders is a band of trefoil shapes entwined with tassels. The plain body is engraved with the coat of arms of Queen Anne. Pair of reeded and foliate handles. The slightly wider base has two bands of ornament. The arms of Eton College are engraved on the base.
