This ewer was presented to Eton College by Mark Phillips, a former House Master who served as Keeper of the Eton College Photographic Archive and Silver Collection from 1994 to 2002.

Pear shaped, Renaissance style ewer, heavily decorated with fruit and floral swags, shells and serpentine wave patterns. The interior is silver-gilt. On one side of the body a pair of male and female winged figures support a cartouche enclosing a coat of arms with a crest of a mailed arm brandishing a dagger in its fist, with a Renaissance style bearded male mask below the cartouche. A similar cartouche encloses an inscription on the other. The lid has a 'pistol-grip' style of opening mechanism. Standing on a domed raised foot with a band of flowers and shells enclosed in repeating semi-circular arcs.
