Comments
The inscription on this heavily decorated Gothic cup indicates that it was presented to the college by Sir Joseph Cockfield Dimsdale (1849-1912), who served as Lord Mayor of London in the coronation year, 1902, and was an MP for the City of London from 1900 to 1906.
The design features a view of School Yard and enamelled coats of arms: those of the City of London, Eton College and the donor. The cover is surmounted by the figure of King Henry VI, a miniature copy of the Founder's Statue in School Yard.
